Hollywood Reborn

Hollywood’s identity was recreated and revitalized. After years of neglect, the $880 million Hollywood and Highland project opened in 2001, occupying almost two blocks in the heart of the city, and housing the Kodak Theater, permanent home of the Academy Awards. Scheduled to begin in 2011, Cirque de Soleil’s production of “Iris” settles into the Kodak Theatre as a permanent attraction.

A variety of daytime and nighttime venues emerged as part of economic and cultural renaissance. Hollywood gained the spotlight as property values skyrocketed, drawing significant attention from investors, developer, and financiers.

The Hollywood extension of the Los Angeles metro rail system opened, providing rapid transit from downtown Los Angeles through Hollywood and to the San Fernando Valley.  Billions of dollars in projects, currently in various stages of development, fill the real estate pipeline.
